how to amplify cell signal?
We are building moving to a remote cabin in Montana in about a month, we are down in a valley between rock faces and have almost no cell signal. we cant get a land line so we have verizon cell service as well as verizon air card internet service. we dont have hardly enough service to send a txt message let alone highspeed internet. what can i get that will really amplify our signals, i tried one of those home booster kits from Wilson but no go, it doesnt work hardly at all, just gives us a enough for a text message. i asked Wilson for suggestions or help and they wont even respond to me. please help! let me know what i really need to get actual cell and internet signal....it doesnt have to be perfect but we need at least 2-bars. suggestions? experiences?
You would need a cellular repeater installed at a point in clear line of sight of the nearest cell antenna, and of your location. These cost tens of thousands of dollars and have to be mounted on high towers to reduce the radiation effects on people. Anything you installed powerful enough to help with poor location signal losses would also need to transmit much higher power. This becomes a serious health hazard. High risk of cancers and leukemia to you and anyone else within close proximity of the antenna. Considering for the same reason there are aircraft restrictions like no flying within 1.5 miles or maybe more, from some basic lower power satellite transmitters, you might think about subscribing to a satellite service.
