Gatlinberg/pigeon forge, TN and some NC?
We are going on a family vacation and I know there is a Cherokee Indian tribe but wonder where it is? Anyone know? What are some MUST DO sights, attractions to do with small children (6 & 3 ) I remember some but its been 20-some years since I was there last. Also recommendations on hotels? I am afraid to get a cabin due to rattlers!
The cherokee tribe is in NC. You go into Gatlinburg . Take the drive into and thru the Smoky National Park Mountains. This will land you in Cherokee, NC. When my kids were little, we did a lot of hiking. There are lots of hiking trails in the Smokey Mountain National Park. We loved Ober Gatlinburg. You can drive up there, or take the ski lift in downtown Gatlinburg. At Ober there is an ice skating rink, real black bears behind fences to see, a sled run on a concrete track down the mountain. We used to put a kid on a sled with each of us and they loved it. My daughter liked the Velcro game. You put on this suit made of Velcro and then you run and attach yourself to a Velcro wall. She would hang upside down and laugh. If it is warm, the creek that runs thru Gatlinburg is fun to walk in, it has huge rocks and is really clean. When my kids got older, they loved Pigeon Forge. They rode the go carts and the water slides. They panned for gems. DollyWood Park is awesome. Lots of rides and show. And Dolly Pardon the owner, does walk around some times. When you drive from Pigeon Forge into Gatlinburg, it was always our tradition since I was a little girl to beep your horn when you go thru the tunnel. Hope you all have fun!!

Any tips or intersting places to visit for New Year's trip to mountains?
For New Year's my boyfriend and I are going to Asheville, NC, Gatlinburg, TN, Pigeon Forge, TN and Cherokee, NC. Any places besides just the Biltmore that would be nice for a four day trip and what should we expect as far as the weather goes and crowds? We already have reservation for a cabin and hotel. Thanks!
