All about Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge
The Animal Kingdom Lodge, located at Disney's Florida resort, is an opportunity for any family to enjoy the unique experience of living among the animals. The Lodge lies within a 43-acre wildlife sanctuary and gives the African culture full expression in its landscape and village architecture. Every member of the family will find something fascinating and fun at this creative resort.
Guestrooms
Decorated with unusual and colorful African furnishings, all the Animal Kingdom Lodge rooms reflect the theme of the resort. A ceiling fan circles lazily above comfortable beds covered in soft linens. Many guestrooms include a private balcony and all are stocked with a hairdryer, iron and ironing board, refrigerator and coffeemaker. Bathrooms are roomy and include a separate vanity area with double sinks. A private safe is available for storing valuables and phone service includes voice mail. For extra room, the Lodge offers selected suites furnished with extras such as DVD players and a microwave. The Lodge has approximately 66 rooms equipped with wheelchair access bathrooms or convenience features for the hearing impaired.
Guest Services
The Lodge provides several services to help all family members enjoy their stay. Supervised babysitting services are available from 4:30pm to midnight and offers children ages 3 to 12 a variety of fun activities along with dinner and a snack while they watch Disney shows with their peers. Other choices include in-room childcare or the help and company of a childcare specialist while visiting the Park attractions. Room service from the Boma restaurant is available daily between 6:00 a.m. and midnight.
Hotel Amenities
The Animal Kingdom Lodge strives to accommodate all guests and provides ramps and elevators for wheelchair access. There are two laundry rooms available in the lodge. The hotel has self-parking at the main lobby entrance as well as valet parking for a nominal fee.
Dining
Two of the Lodge's restaurants offer African-inspired cuisine; the thatched rooms of Boma-Flavors of Africa features buffet-style dining, and Jiko-The Cooking Place features imaginative meals and award winning wines. The added treat of watching the chefs prepare each meal makes dining an entertaining experience. For a quick and casual selection, The Mara features pizza, burgers, salads and sandwiches. The Cape Town Lounge and Wine Bar is a great place to meet friends before or after dinner, while the romantic sounds of soft waterfalls provide background music over cocktails at the Victoria Falls Lounge.
Activities
The list of activities is just about endless at the Lodge and features something for every family member.
- The Uzima Pool has a zero-depth entry feature and provides 11,000 square feet of swimming area as well as a 67-foot long slide. A wading pool lets little ones splash and play safely.
- The Zawadi Marketplace is a place to pick up interesting and one-of-a-kind Zulu baskets, handmade clothing and other African themed gifts.
- Children clubs include Simba's Clubhouse for children 3 through 12
- The Hakuna Matata Playground provides 24-hour access to slides and climbing features.
- All ages will thrill to the exciting video games at the Safari So Good Arcade, which features the latest technology in arcade, and video games.
Not only will a visit to the Animal Kingdom Lodge be a vacation that will satisfy the entire family, but this family friendly destination offers a unique and exciting way to experience an African adventure without leaving the United States.
