Property London's Log Cabin
http://mydeco.com/the-magazine/news/18786235
Built in 1980 by award-winning architects Richard Rogers, the North London wooden home is described by The Mirror as a 'gorgeous tropical hideaway'. The unusual property clearly blends in with nature as most of the doors and windows in the house are floor to ceiling and can slide open to access the garden, bringing the outside in. Timber walls in the interior fit together 'like an amazing jigsaw puzzle', the Mirror explained. Walls can be moved and slotted together to create different spaces within the house, giving new meaning to the phrase 'updating a property'.
A 'simple white kitchen' runs along one wall on the ground floor, so the structure - rather than the interiors - clearly does the talking in this house. The Mirror explained that the kitchen is divided from a large living area by an 'island unit' and a slatted staircase 'which is an artwork in itself'.
Moving up the staircase and on to the first floor there are two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a study, while there are a further two bedrooms on the second floor. Richard Rogers carefully considered the space on the top floor as the bedrooms there are tucked into the eaves and have 'cleverly designed' built-in furniture. A galleried seating area overlooks the entire house, making it an absolute pleasure to sit and enjoy the view.
The current owners are documentary maker Neil Crombie and design consultant David Brooke, who said they like 'nothing better' than sitting in their living room watching the sun go down. It sounds like a wooden house fit for a king. On the move? Should you renovate? Get tips about the current housing market with the mydeco property section. Find exactly what you?re looking for ?
