Comments on log cabin kits Any recommendations?
I am thinking about buying a kit My budget would be in the neighbourhood of $200K for the building which should incorporate any items not included with kit.
I'm all for alternative housing fabrications, and have found dozens of decent sites in a general search of the WWW.
Certainly 200 K should set you up well, assuming you don't need a 3000 sq. ft. house. There are companies East of the Mississippi (whew had to think about that LOL) that have a large customer base apparently, in Georgia and the Carolinas. Some I note are even constructed to "Shell" for under 100 K, but I have no real idea of sq. footage.
I'd do as much research as it takes to learn all you can about the species of log offered, it's durability, things like R values it offers, and what additional you can do to boost that, etc.
I'm actually leaning more toward Steel, and a company in TX. "ICON". As of last year they were producing and delivering on site, with code applications in place, for $11.50 per sq. ft.

ok, I just asked about building a cheap house. What I mean is, what type house?
A-Frame, log cabin kit, or traditional stick build with 4 corners?? Any other suggestions?
Stick built Square or rectangle house with Gable truss system roof. done mostly by your self you should shell out about 65 dollars a square ft.
