Log Cabin Toys - Aiding Your own Fundraising Endeavours

Have your fundraising efforts been unsuccessful recently because you have run out of ideas for ways in which you can approach people? Do you feel that you are putting in too much effort without getting a proper return? This is a very competitive field because there are many people vying for the donor's attention at the same time. You will have to use your imagination to seek ways to differentiate your efforts from that of the others so that your efforts to raise funds bear fruit. One good idea is to sell handcrafted wooden toys such as log cabin toys in order to raise money for your favorite aid organization.

Most people do not think of log cabin toys as being anything more than playthings, albeit very popular ones. People familiar with them know them as well crafted scale models of all sorts of buildings dating to the pioneer period. These playthings are usually do-it-yourself assembly kits that are made up of a large number of wooden pieces. No doubt most people just buy them as toys, but they also provide you with the opportunity to raise a substantial amount of money for a good cause because people certainly love buying them.

Raising funds for charity becomes a very easy task when you decide to sell DIY scale models of buildings that have cultural significance in parts of Canada and the United States. All you have to do is source the assembly kits at a low price so that you can make keepsakes that people will love to buy. In fact, the products you make will be very popular with buyers because they are attractive and portable. You will also be able to get a good selling price for them.

You will find log cabin toys to be easy and quick to put together. They are accompanied by detailed assembly instructions that are extremely easy to follow, even by kids. If you are a teacher or a scout leader this is probably the best thing to do because the kids you deal with will be able to assemble the toys easily. They might enjoy this activity more than any other one you put them to. In fact, you could also use this opportunity to teach them about history.

You will not have any problems when it comes to getting buyers because these miniatures make wonderful keepsakes. They are attractive and compact and look good when displayed in a living room. Make sure that you use high quality log cabin toys in order to attract a lot of buyers who will support your cause. The funds you raise for charity will certainly increase when you use these wooden toys.

Another good idea would be to sell the assembly kits to people looking for gift ideas for Christmas or birthdays. In fact, most parents will be very happy to give their kids toys that develop their intelligence rather than merely entertain them. These kits certainly require good hand and eye co-ordination and are therefore great gifts for children. You will be surprised to know that many adults also like assembling these toys.

It would be best if you discussed with the manufacturers of the log cabin toys if they can personalize their product for you. This certainly gets your finished product more attention and makes it easier for you to generate funds for your charity. You might have to buy a minimum quantity of assembly kits in order for them to be personalized. With or without that, these wooden toys are a great way for you to generate a lot of revenue for charity.

A Fort Trading Post – Offering Security in Uncertain Times

The countries of the North American continent were built by the efforts of hardworking pioneers and this is particularly apparent in the extreme north. Canada and certain parts of the United States flourished as a result of the lucrative fur trade because of the huge world demand for it.  This was made possible by the construction of a fort trading post in almost every place where it was required. As a matter of fact, these trading posts have to be credited with the actual creation of parts of these countries by providing the settlers with much needed security in those turbulent times.

The reason that a fort trading post was so important to the development of the north was that it provided trappers, fishermen and hunters with a degree of security that was very difficult to come by in those uncertain times. It provided them with the undoubted advantage of an assured market for the furs and other material they trapped. They could also depend on the trading post for supplies that were very hard to come by in those areas. In addition, it also gave them physical security that was essential in those times especially since the settlers and Indians had continuous skirmishes with hostile Indian tribes.

The company that controlled these trading posts, and thereby the Canadian fur trade was the Hudson's Bay Company. It was a very efficient organization that managed an immense network of these trading posts all over the sparsely inhabited areas of the north and it was also responsible for increasing understanding and awareness of these areas. When the country was finally created, it was the network of these trading posts that were incorporated into various government institutions because of the control they already exercised over the area.

The other interesting thing about these trading posts is that settler communities usually grew up around them. Most towns in the icy northern regions of Canada therefore were created around these trading posts and they retain a great degree of affection for them. There is no place in today's world for a fort trading post, but they are still thought of with nostalgia and a lot of respect for the efforts of the pioneers in building the country.

It would be a great disservice to completely forget about these trading posts because of the role they played in developing the region. Many of them have been retained as historic sites with an aim to educate present generations about their significance. They are now extremely popular as tourist destinations and people can get a very good idea of the way people lived and worked in those days. There are many of them, but one of the most popular is the Fort William Historic Park.

Practically every pioneer structure, whether it was a fort trading post or a house, were built of logs because they were almost the only things that were available in sufficient quantities there. Life was extremely tough in those days, and these Log Cabins were relatively easy to construct and to repair. They are an enduring reminder of the difficulty with which the frigid northern areas were developed by settlers with unbreakable spirit and a will to succeed irrespective of the circumstances.

Even in these modern days, there is so much interest in those pioneer times that toys and models based upon this theme have many takers. It is possible to get scale models of a fort trading post that are as attractive as they are educational, and people who have an admiration for the pioneer spirit of the days gone by will find them irresistible.
