Preparing a log for furniture?
I've come across this great old 70 lb log which I believe is a redwood, but not sure. It is removed of all bark. I want to use it as a table since it has been cut to sit with a level top and bottom. My concern is of insects, and what should I do to prepare it for being indoors. The log has been drying outdoors in a shed for a few months, but prior to being in my hands, I do not know long it has actually been drying.
The log is solid, other than the center which has about a 2 inch hole that goes from top to bottom, likely eaten away, and it is dry and brittle. Should I run insecticide through this?
Any tips?
You should not do such a hard work for the furniture as you are not guaranteed whether or not the wood will be infected.. There is no use of doing hard work on making a table for your house.
