Drying of wood to make furniture?
I'm thinking about trying to do some log furniture made of pine or fir. How dry the wood and how time it would take to dry? When will I know you are ready to work? Thanks in advance for your answer!
Split logs and rounds can be use immediately to "primitive" furniture, timber and verify that you can divide what you want. Joints were made Conider tools w / hand in large sectors of the wood. Basic items, big and strong is used such as mortise and tenon, pegs w / shims, etc. as appropriate finish took place w / oil or natural beeswax. Might consider splitting and drying before building.if intended that the finished surfaces. Iron and ironing take 1 per inch thick in the air. dry. A little faster if placed in a haunted attic and hot, but you can see and further divide. Record rounds ....???? w / bark some ....???? With records of kitschy wood such as spruce or pine willl take a very long time, would consider working if the surfaces can be scraped or sanded, no signs of moisture. You could also build and let it stabilize before any modern finish is used. A natural lacquer or varnish can breathe better than polyurethane and can be removed and reworked as the wood shrinks and splits. Are sites that deal w / rustic / log furniture primitive. Repair and build some parts for use gross outdoors (wouldnt call it furniture) were separated as advertised, but stayed together without any hardware.
