Tell everything you know about Brevard North Carolina! 10 points for best description.?
I'm going on a trip there, and it'll be great.
My first mountain trip since I was little.
I want to know more, in case I want to move there.
Tell me what you know about the high schools, the college at Brevard (feel free to throw in anything you know about the college's psychology program), places to go, coffee shops, restaurants (I'm vegetarian lol), mountains, parks, weather, anything & everything you know.
I want lots of snow in the winter, mountains and waterfalls obviously, coffee shops, artsy people, (I've got a really bohemian style myself), reasonable costs for a log cabin home, culture, diversity,
so is that there?
If you like the outdoors, the boy, that's the place. I spent half of my time in the forests up there when I was in college. Trout fishing in the Davidson River, hiking the trails (esp Looking Glass Rock and the Pink Beds), tubing down the creek below Sliding Rock (if you swim, remember the water is ice cold even in summer), and sitting on this one particular rock on the creek bank just watching Looking Glass Falls. The Cradle of Forestry is pretty cool, as is Graveyard Fields just down the Parkway from the 276 exit.
I don't know about the high schools, but I had lots of friends who went to the college before it went 4-year in the 90's. Seems to be a decent liberal arts school, since most of them transferred to Asheville from the music or fine arts programs. Otherwise, I though the campus was nice...but very tiny.
Other than that...the town has changed a lot since I roamed the byways of WNC a dozen years ago, so I am not sure what amenities it offers these days. I do know that the NE side used to be heavily industrialized along the river, but as with many place, I am sure that is rapidly changing.
If Hendersonville is any indication (I always thought they were very similar to each other in many ways), it should offer a lot of what you want, but you'll need to search the web for more info. Do remember it is still a small WNC town, so don't expect a huge amount of comradery who share your desired lifestyle (for that, Asheville provides the best cushion in those parts).
