Pre Built Cabin Kits
What's a ball-park cost per sq ft for building a simple small home? Area is Eastern Oregon?
We are trying to find out what we can afford. We would like to build a small (900 - 1100 sq ft) cabin, simple and cozy but not luxurious. Our basic idea is a main floor with 1 or 2 bedrooms, and then a loft upstairs. What could we expect for a "finished" price per sq foot? We also have a "pre-fab" panelised cabin kit in mind, it's around 1100 square feet. The kit would cost around 53k, not including shipping; any idea how much it would cost to have a builder put it up for us?
Again, this would be in Oregon, Wheeler County.

Your cost to build a suitable, respectable home should not exceed $85.00 per sq. ft.. I would think twice, or thrice, about erecting any kind of cabin that uses any kind of logs. They are more of a headache than they are worth. I have worked on many log homes and they are a major pain. Beautiful country out there in Wheeler. Good luck with your new home.
