The stain should be used?
I remodling my living room. I decided to use 1x4 as my door panel to make it look rustic. Looking for some suggestions what type of stain I should use. Thanks!
It depends on what color or effect you want to achieve. You can go to most places that sell wood stains and have a table showing the different colors and shades of the spots of most of the wood. A rustic look is probably best achieved by cutting the raw wood before putting it in place. A dark stain such as walnut or mahogany would be even more the effect. A light wood like ash or oak effect is removed. In fact, it is possible want to use a gel stain, as it will go darker and you could get by with a single coat. It's almost like painting rather than staining the wood. With spots will probably have to use 3 or 4 layers to get enough Darke. Especially if you are using a light wood like pine or fir or something similar, which usually sold at places like Lowes, in sizes such as 1 x 4s .... good luck
