Recipe for cookie mix gift in a canning jar?
Have you seen those made from a rustic gift jar filled with old Ball canning LAYERS dry ingredients for chocolate chip cookies? Well I have one of those old glass bottles (35 Oz?) That I would give someone as a gift full of dry ingredients for easy chocolate chip cookies. I have the intention to print the recipe on a label attached to the flask. Does anyone know the correct proportions a recipe to fit the jar? My recipe calls for 2 cups of flour, and that leaves no room for any of the other layers. Please do not make the recipe too complicated, because my target gift is a teenager learning to cook. I want her to know the pride and satisfaction that comes from baking cookies that come from a cooling pipe slice-n-bake! Thanks.
Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix in a Jar 1 cup brown sugar 1 / 2 cup granulated sugar 1 1 / 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips 2 cups flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon baking soda Mix the salt and baking soda with flour then layer the ingredients on the bottle. (I put the chocolate in a snack-size bag and put in the top of the bottle you have space or attach to the jar with a ribbon enough for your recipient does not have to sift out before mix) Attach a gift card with the following instructions:. Chocolate Chip Cookies: Sift dry ingredients through a sieve to separate the chocolate chips of the other ingredients. Beat 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter or margarine in a medium bowl. Beat sifted ingredients into butter until blended. In a bowl small, beat 1 egg with a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix beaten egg mixture into the butter mixture until blended. Add the chocolate. teaspoons Drop mixture, well apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 minutes or until lightly browned.
