rustic interior door
please please interior help needed NOW!?
im painting this empty space in my house and it's basically supposed to be a dining room, minus the table. its actually empty, its open and seperates the 2 living rooms. i wanted to add some color and was thinking 1 wall red another orange and the remaining ones brown? its not a closed off room it has no doors and one large arch so im not worried about it being claustra phobic...but i was wondering if that was a good color scheme? can anyone think of something better for a rustic, warm dining room (the table will come eventually), there are cream tiles on the floor...could get a nice rug though? thoughts?
Well it is difficult to judge without having seen either your decor or furnishings. However, I am thinking that you may be able to incorporate these colors without separating them as much as you described.
For example: Have you thought about a base coat (say brown) with the red applied over the base with a rag roller or sponge? Of course the brown and the red should only be a few (maybe three or four) shades off from each other. The orange perhaps could be pulled in with the chair rail and crown molding(at the top of he walls where your ceiling and walls meet) on three walls and then have just one wall orange with the trims matching the opposing wall. I would also try to ensure that the shade of orange chosen is not so vastly different that the room feels clownish. Both the brown and orange could lean towords a red base. I would also suggest that you use flat (or satan) instead of semigloss paint to avoid shine. Keep in mind the decor from the ajoining rooms so that your rooms flow smoothly. P.S. You can always go to lowes. They have a computer that allows you to generate a graphic simulation of your chosen color schemes, it is pretty cool.
