Back to the old days of San Diego
The Old Town San Diego State Park is a protected historic chronicles the beginnings and the story behind the City of San Diego. Although San Diego is one of the largest cities in the state of California and, indeed, the United States, this park goes back to the days when San Diego was a small Spanish outpost where life was slow. The park preserves the history of the city from the period dating back to the War of Independence from Mexico in the period starting in 1821 until the period of U.S. occupation in 1872.
The Old City Park is located on San Diego Avenue and the street Twiggs San Diego County a place where life moves slowly and the hustle and bustle of the city seems a long way a way. This was what life was like during the early days Spanish in the area. The historical chronology of the region is as fascinating as the flashing lights that adorn the busy town of today.
In 1542, the Spanish first came to San Diego, but not initiate a solution until much later in 1769. Later in the War of Independence of Mexico Mexico separated from their leaders Spanish colonial, with the U.S. the state of California. After the war with Mexico and the revolt of the Bear Flag in 1848 the state was in California was annexed by the U.S. and with it came to the city of San Diego. What was once a small military outpost Spanish began growing into a new city in 1868. Park visitors can see some of the original buildings that were used during the late 1800's. Between historic buildings is the first newspaper in the San Diego office is known as the San Diego Union Printing Office, Mason Street School, which was the first public school California, La Casa de Estudillo a historic mansion and La Casa de Machado y Stewart, which is a treasure trove of artifacts and historic furniture.
The hull Old San Diego State Park also features a four-acre plaza that shows local artisans and craftsmen, while also acting as an activity center where make cultural presentations for tourists.
